Scheme description
The scheme aims to create a quiet route for cyclists and pedestrians along a stretch of Wellington Street. It is proposed that this will be achieved by implementing a point closure from the service access road to Alexandra Retail Park to the Rhodes Bank junction. It is anticipated that the full scheme length will be 570m, with vehicle access required along the initial 320m for servicing access to the adjacent businesses. The current proposal is for the remaining 250m stretch of carriageway to be closed to motorised vehicles using filters / planters / bollards to create a traffic free route into the town centre.
