Scheme description
Busy roads can sever communities and make people feel they have no choice but to drive, even on short trips.
In partnership with Wigan Council, we plan to consult on delivering new and upgraded walking and cycling crossing facilities in Wigan as part of the GM-wide Bee Network Crossings scheme. These crossings will make it easier for local residents to walk and cycle as they will be across busy roads. In Wigan, this involves:
Installing a new signalised walking and cycling crossing on Bridge Street at the junction with Pimblett Street.
Repositioning and upgrading of the existing pedestrian crossing to a segregated walking and cycling crossing on Whelley at the junction of Cumberland Street.
Implementing a new segregated signalised walking and cycling crossing on St Helens Road at the junction with Bonnywell Road.
