Her cycling story 

Helen’s love for cycling began as a student, when a three-day tour sparked a passion that’s taken her across the UK and over 15 countries. Today, she cycles for everything from commuting to exploring the Peak District.

About Hannah 

Mum of two and primary school teacher helping to run a weekly bike train in Chorlton, turning the school run into a fun, social and confidence-building experience.

Her cycling story 

After rediscovering cycling in South Manchester, Hannah became part of a group of parents running a bike train — riding to school together with music, laughter and growing confidence for both children and adults.

Why cycling matters to her 

Cycling offers freedom, reliability and a joyful way to travel — but most importantly, it’s about building safer, more connected communities and helping children feel independent.

Ellen began cycling as a student and has since taken on everything from daily commuting to multi-day bikepacking adventures — including completing the Pennine Bridleway carrying all her kit on her bike.

Two young cyclists from Chorlton who ride every day — to school, the park and beyond — as part of their community bike train.

About Belinda 

Bicycle Mayor of Greater Manchester and founder of Bee Pedal Ready, Belinda is passionate about improving representation in cycling and the bike mechanics industry, particularly for women and culturally diverse communities.

Her cycling story 

Belinda’s journey into cycling began through BMX, Bikeability and bike mechanics, which led her to recognise the need for greater inclusion within the industry. She now leads Bee Pedal Ready, delivering community rides, workshops and events that support people—especially women and underrepresented groups—to build confidence, repair bikes and embrace cycling.

Cycling helps Belinda connect with her surroundings and others, creating a sense of community while offering a more independent and accessible way to travel.
