Scheme description
An Active Neighbourhood in Levenshulme and Burnage, where the movement of people is prioritised over motor traffic. Trials are currently underway, using planters to prioritise the movement of residents over cars. This scheme intends to create an Active ‘filtered’ Neighbouhood, reducing traffic in the area and encouraging residents to use other forms of sustainable transport - particularly walking and cycling. This will be done through changes such as modal filters, which close roads to through traffic, stopping rat running and allowing people the space to walk, cycle, scoot, play and socialise in their area.
