Scheme description
The section of Chapel Street between New Bailey Street and Blackfriars is a key link into the city centre. The proposed plans include improvements to help people be less reliant on cars, including junction priority at side roads for pedestrians, new crossing points and protected cycle lanes. Trees and planting will also be added to make the environment more pleasant.
More information
Temporary cycle lanes on Chapel Street have been trialed using light segregation as part of Salford's response to the coronavirus pandemic, creating safe space for people to cycle or walk their journey in order to save space on public transport for those who really need it.
