More information
Creating a network of walking and cycling routes between Standish, Wigan and Ashton in Makerfield. This scheme will improve the canal towpath of the Leeds Liverpool Canal, provide ramped access to the bridge across the Leeds Liverpool canal between Miry Lane and the DW stadium. Extend the walking and cycling path on the disused railway line over the disused Whelly Viaduct, extend the cyclepath from Victoria Park to Ashton in Makerfield, and connect with improvements for pedestrians and cyclists planned to the A49 on the Eastern Gateway and the Road to Wigan Pier.
