Women and Girls Small Grants Scheme

We're launching a new Women and Girls Small Grants Scheme

The new small grants scheme is being set up to support local organisations to help more women and girls' cycle in Greater Manchester.

These small, flexible grants are designed to support practical, locally‑led activities that make cycling more accessible, welcoming and enjoyable for women and girls.

Who is the scheme for?

The scheme is open to organisations that work with women and girls, including:

  • Community and voluntary groups

  • VCSFE organisations

  • Schools and education settings

  • NHS and health organisations

  • Not‑for‑profit organisations

Projects must be delivered within Greater Manchester and focus on encouraging women and girls to cycle.

What do successful applicants receive?

Successful applicants will receive a grant of up to £2,000 to deliver activities or events that:

  • Promote the benefits of cycling

  • Increase confidence, participation or access to cycling

  • Support more everyday journeys to be made by bike

Funding can be used for one‑off activities or short projects that remove barriers or create new opportunities for women and girls to cycle, including:

  • Practical cycling activity (e.g. led rides)

  • One‑day events, taster sessions or confidence‑building activities

  • Workshops and knowledge‑sharing sessions

  • Awareness‑raising sessions or activities

  • Community projects

  • Purchase of equipment

  • Creative projects

When should activity take place?

This is a short‑term, one‑off fund linked to the Women and Girls Summer 2026 campaign. We expect funded activity to take place soon after funding is awarded, ideally between June and September 2026.

While some flexibility is possible where needed, the fund is intended to support activity delivered during Summer 2026.
